Plantar fasciitis is a common and painful condition that affects the foot. Though often considered a "middle-age" disorder, the condition can affect anyone who is physically active. Fortunately, plantar fasciitis can be diagnosed and treated through exercise and other healthy practices. It can also be treated with the Zensah PF Compression Sleeve.
The Causes of Plantar Fasciitis
The plantar fascia is the ligament that connects the toes to the bone in the heel. It’s location gives this ligament the important function of supporting the arch of the foot, which is necessary for walking. If it is strained, however, the plantar fascia may become swollen and too weak to carry out its primary function. Such straining can result from long periods of walking, running or even standing. Other factors that can result in plantar fasciitis include poor "foot posture," with the foot not making contact with the ground while straight, or excessive weight being imposed on the feet due to obesity. Relief from the condition can come down to something as simple as resting the feet or wearing shoes that are not excessively worn.
Exercise as a Treatment
There are also some exercises that have proven to be useful in treating plantar fasciitis. These two involve the stretching of the feet or legs:
In this exercise, the big toe is moderately bent backward with the hand and held in that position for no more than 30 seconds. The process is then repeated up to four times.
This exercise must be done while standing, with the hands against a wall and the heel firmly on the floor. The knee is then bent in a backward direction and held in that position for no more than 30 seconds. This procedure should be repeated up to four times.
Considering the Zensah Compression Sleeve
The Zensah Plantar Fasciitis Compression Sleeve is a method of treating plantar fasciitis that employs some of the same principles as stretching exercises. The sleeve uses compression to improve circulation, which in turn reduces the swelling and pain that is associated with plantar fasciitis. Possessing a special mesh that will fit inside shoes, this sleeve can be worn throughout the day and even at night.
If you suspect that you have plantar fasciitis, you should seek medical attention to determine the best course of action. You should also consider the Zensah PF Compression Sleeve as a treatment option.
